I don't see Actional for SOA Operations listed in the Actional 8.0 product portfolio. Does this product still exist? What are my upgrade options?
The Actional 8.0 product family does include an Actional 8.0 SOA Operations Edition and is available to existing customers. You can upgrade directly to the new version as long as you have an active maintenance support agreement. You can also upgrade to the Progress® Actional® Enterprise for managing interconnected applications from development through application support. I don't see Actional for Active Policy Enforcement listed in the Actional 8.0 product portfolio. Does this product still exist? What are my upgrade options?
The Actional 8.0 product family does include an Actional 8.0 Active Policy Enforcement Edition and is available to existing customers. You can upgrade directly to the new version as long as you have an active maintenance support agreement. I don't see Actional for Continuous Service Optimization listed in the Actional 8.0 product portfolio. Does this product still exist? What are my upgrade options?
Actional for Continuous Service Optimization has been renamed to Actional Management Server (need data sheet hyperlink). The enhanced feature set includes Agentless Management, Custom log management, extended platform support and more. You can also upgrade to the Actional Enterprise edition for managing interconnected applications from development through application support. I recently purchased a copy of Mindreef SOAPscope Tester or Mindreef SOAPscope Architect. I don't see these products listed in the Actional 8.0 family portfolio. What has happened to them? Can I get my money back?
Mindreef SOAPscope Tester, Mindreef SOAPscope Architect and SOAPscope Workstation functionality is available in Actional Team Server. Users can now upgrade to Actional Team Server with a single named-user license at no additional cost. We do not offer refunds.
Customers with active subscription or with a perpetual license with active maintenance support, will have any remaining balances transferred to annual support maintenance for Actional Team Server at no additional cost. What functionality do I lose going to Actional Team Server from SOAPscope Tester, SOAPscope Architect or SOAPscope Workstation?
You don't lose any functionality. In fact with Actional Team Server you gain functionality. It provides robust diagnostics, testing, and compliance features for architects, developers, testers, business analysts, and support staff, in a centralized server-based solution that can be accessed from virtually any browser. SOAPscope Tester users gain the ability to create custom rules for checking policy compliance. SOAPscope Architect and Workstation users gain the ability to create test suites and perform load testing. You will also have the flexibility to integrate with other Actional solutions for managing today's interconnected application with runtime visibility, control and security.

How is my data migrated when upgrading to Actional Team Server from SOAPscope Tester, SOAPscope Architect or SOAPscope Workstation?
Please contact us at 1-800-4-Progress for a new license key for Actional Team Server. After you install Team Server, configure your database settings to connect to your existing SOAPscope product database, and it will be automatically updated to work with Team Server.

I recently purchased Mindreef SOAPscope Server but I don't see this product listed in the Actional 8.0 Product Portfolio. Does this product still exist? What are my upgrade options?
Yes this product does exist. As part of the new Actional family Mindreef SOAPscope Server been renamed to Progress® Actional® Team Server and now includes new functionality such as support for REST and POX messages, contract annotations, and optional integration with other Actional products.
You have two upgrade options. You can upgrade, at no cost, to the new license model of Actional Team Server with a number of named-user licenses that is equivalent to 3Xs the number of your concurrent licenses. If you want to take advantage of the Actional and Mindreef integration, the Progress® Actional® Application Development product may be more appropriate for you. How do I migrate my data from SOAPscope Server to Actional Team Server?
If you are using SOAPscope Server 5.x, you will need to first upgrade your data to SOAPscope Server 6.2. When you install Actional Team Server, the installer will detect the SOAPscope 6.2 instance and give you the option to migrate your existing data.

What if I don't want to upgrade, can I keep using the old version? How long can I keep using an older version?
If you have a subscription, then you can use the product until the subscription expires. If you have a perpetual license, then you can keep using it for as long as you like with the understanding that there will no maintenance renewals on the older products.
Mindreef SOAPscope 5.x and SOAPscope Developer Questions

I currently use SOAPscope 5.x or SOAPscope Developer and have learned that Actional Diagnostics is the next-generation offering for SOAPscope Developer. What functionality do I lose going to Actional Diagnostics from these products?
Progress® Actional® Diagnostics was announced on Jan 26th 2008 and is an extension of SOAPscope Developer in almost every way. New features include REST, Load Check, Logical Network Maps, and more. See the Actional Diagnostics data sheet for the complete list of features.
With Actional Diagnostics, customers will no longer have the ability to upload an MRP file or to upload custom rule profiles for Policy Check. If you need to collaborate with other members on your team, our server-based products may be more appropriate for you.

How much does it cost?
Actional Diagnostics will be available in April as a free download. Details on where you can download the product and join the developer community will be available on the Progress Software Web site in April. Visit the Actional Diagnostics page to keep updated or to sign up to be alerted with the free download is available.

Why are you offering it for free?
Given the rapid growth rate of the Mindreef SOAPscope technology throughout the developer community, we felt that by offering a free product, many more developers could experience the benefits of Actional Diagnostics. Just as important, they could also participate in the new social community, where they can share tips and problems and learn through forums, wikis, and more.

I just purchased a copy of Mindreef SOAPscope or SOAPscope Developer. How do I get my refund?
We do not offer refunds.You will continue to receive support for Mindreef SOAPscope or SOAPscope Developer until your subscription expires. Once your subscription expires, you can participate in a free forum for support or purchase basic maintenance for ($5,000 + $199 per named-user) per year.

Can I continue to use SOAPscope 5.3 or SOAPscope Developer 6.x for free and 'not' move to Actional Diagnostics?
If you have a perpetual license, you can continue to use your current version but cannot obtain support after your maintenance contract expires. If you have a subscription, in order to continue without interruption you will need to update SOAPscope to Actional Diagnostics before your subscription or extended SOAPscope Developer evaluation runs out. If you are using SOAPscope 5.x, you will need to first upgrade your data to SOAPscope Developer 6.x. When you install Actional Diagnostics, the installer will detect a SOAPscope Developer instance and give you the option to migrate your existing data.
If you have a perpetual license you may continue to use SOAPscope Developer, but support will not be offered after your maintenance contract expires.

What do I do when my license expires?
Even if your license has expired, you can download Actional Diagnostics and migrate your data.

What are my support options?
Starting in April users can participate in a free forum for support or purchase basic maintenance for ($5,000 + $199 per named-user) per year.

I just have a small issue; can I pay for a single incident?
The free forum is the correct place to solve this type of problem. Progress support engineers actively monitor the forum and will be glad to assist you.

The announcement says you only support an embedded database. I am using MSDE, SQL Server, MySQL or Oracle. Can I still use this database?
Actional Diagnostics will give you the option to migrate your data from any of the databases supported in the 6.x versions of SOAPscope.
